about

Inner Sessions’ two-sided approach to boom bap can be felt throughout “Inner Seed”. Showcasing the diverse and distinct lyrical talents of hometown favorites BillyBo and Aaron Paul is only half the fun.

Production of the debut double EP is split right down the middle: Side A by AP’s alter ego zKx1000, and Side B by Johnny Bishop. These two vastly different approaches find convergence at the sound of a tape being flipped.

Displaying sample-based beats and live instrumentation, layered wordplay with crystal clear messages, stories of struggle and glories of triumph, the joy of life after the pain of death – “Inner Seed” is juxtaposed, amalgamated, and reflects One Beautiful Truth: two is better than one. Inner Seed is waiting to become your other half.

Track Name: MoonLight The Night
smash mics with a lightening strike
ignite the sky, reign over the night
fight the good fight, life to death
give breath to the dead with the inner sesh
yeah we bring light, and we bring life
bring it right, yeah, we bring Christ
you could bring the fight but the battle's been won
moonlight the night, we reflect the Son

AARON PAUL:
call me Barack Osama cuz i'm'a bomb ya
over throw your calm, put you in a state of alarm
your national threat level is code red
flows over your head, shells blown on decent
and i'm a pro when i vent
close down the lines throwin up my crew's signs
find inner session tracks in the back of your mind
til the beat start to trickle to your spine and put a wiggle in it
sweep your feet from underneath you like it's 8 Mile
and you could wait, but my delivery's on speed dial
the way you defile my culture you'll get banned
to a land where a mic in your hand is contraband
i ain't your fan, not your friend, not an enemy
i'm just a man here to stand with the remedy
i ain't the centerpiece, the patron at the table
chokin out the lies with my microphone cable

BILLYBO:
i wreck the set like a barber that's blind
shave some off the top [of] the head and carve some divots in the sides
clip the ears like elves - whoops - man, i'm BillyBo
makin these tracks just to sell 'em at shows
so go get your wallets and i'll show you what broke is
pull the sample from the track like my vocals choke it
bring it back, attack like massive body odor
if that's confusing better get your Ovaltine decoder ring
and Orphan Annie's smackin fannies if you're outta line
i'm half of inner sesh you better gimme what's mine
together we're better than ever forever, plus -
these clever endeavers will never sever your trust
but i must confess we stress the true inner sesh, yes
indeed we feed the need with a spiritual seed
i'm efficient with my verses, call me Emcee Green
you can join in on this movement and stop huggin those trees

AARON PAUL:
try again try again try again,
but you don't hear me though, so i try again with my pen
sending you a letter, context? mortal sin
mortal men keep committing, in this face of Christ spitting
my teeth gritting while they gnash and try to lash
nine tails at my back sellin tales of the whack
my hands nailed to a track i'll bear my cross
for the lost souls needing more than a pendant to floss
inner dependant inner sessions mind bending of course
we're takin back the nation by force
people got a choice so we point 'em to the best one
this Oracle's a boulder so i get it off my chest, one
Track Name: Cross Country
BILLYBO:
i play home to these farm fields
my position is shown when the cards deal
makin a crease so it sticks like a tarred heel
diggin in the spurs so you learn how the scars feel
separate chaff when i penetrate paths
rhymes are special in a separate class
got a napsack packed with tracks
makin it known so the crowds react - hey
bring it back two times, Billy's got a new high
takin it the distance so i'll run around a few times
dive down to the inner most sessions
find how to make this love set in
intersect the recipe for a new mix
switch up the balance cuz the broke need fixed
sick of parades i don't get the charades
no games, talk straight, i don't run the chicane
sugar the cane when i stir my sweet tea
lemon on the side perks my A.D.D.
drippin the beats off one by one
for a little freestyle cuz we're havin some fun

AARON PAUL:
right there be given the right words
to splice your attention with light curves
cuz water's what i use to fight fair
it burns up in the heat of the night in a white church
livin here in my heart despite hurt
is a tree from a seed that was planted in my dirt
i'm like worth - only hope to appreciate
every day i'm given cuz livin life is a keepsake
makin your knees shake, keep breakin beats great
and heat it up like beans on a cheese plate
we got the key to the gate and mad copies
that get passed out at bars like the hustler got sloppy
i'm not cocky but i talk me up a big game
i ain't a hotty but i got the heat to melt chains
you ain't the greatest, all the same, nah you ain't "it"
claimin that you lookin for change but nothin's changin
get rearrangin your brain pattern and spray/splatter gray matter
plus a can of faint laughter all upon the same platter
a back packer with a lantern and a tent
plus a bag to sleep in, call me a camper
or maybe even a squatter, my home is not here
a vagabond with my pants still saggin mom
i'm kinda sorry that i like the way i dress i guess
but nevertheless i keep it in tune with the fresh yes
bench pressin the mess with heavy duty broom
boom to the rhythm when i'm cleanin up my stupid room
i had to lose the plume with gray fumes
from the carton and the Ziploc that kept me in the gridlock
so when my chin flops underneath my fake teeth
i'm talkin a lot but hope that we can make peace
i'd like to thank each and every one of you knuckles
for coppin a track and lettin me get in a couple of chuckles
Track Name: Direct Line (Connect Shine)
we got the direct line, connect shine
hard wired to the holy and divine
in these times, with each rhyme
correct minds with this little light of mine

AARON PAUL:
direct line download divine lessons
dictate the lecture delivering inner sessions
documenting leisurely watch this delegate lessen
deliberately let go of demonic legion oppression
detect the laceration don't let infection get in
decapitate lies to follow love's direction, listen
hell's dominion leans on darkness lingering
doing life a disservice locked into dollar lending
digital links demand less direct learning
dudes like us decline lucifer's earning
discerning, loving, diligent and ludicrous
with dialect, the lost are decadent but let 'em in
deny the lien devil's levyin his back tax
double time the leave i mean depart like a.s.a.p.
do less double linguistic don't get locked up
livin on the D.L. just call me Doc Love

BILLYBO:
dang man you keep on dangling these lines
inclined to deceive leaving "bye" to cop a dime
dripping deception like lemons and limes
dropping loads of dramamine to drive the lovely skies
dial in the dandy landing limit losing lives
lock the doors, cross your T's and dot your I's
lurking luger black powder lighting up the drums
you're dancing dirty, letting loose, and doubling the dumb
but we don't dress impressionless we're delivering love
laterally dividing lemmings leveling the sum
literally laying down the lard and dodging dung
longing for the day of days when the greatest song is sung
leaning on the Lord for going down the right direction
drafting dope lyrics on the dawn of intercessions
pray the dialect doesn't lose its direct line
darting hearts linking dozens to connect and shine
Track Name: Intercede
AARON PAUL:
Inner Sessionary, heaven's little military
bringing you the BOMB tracks, dropping on the cemetary
heads in the obituary, getting unburied
Ignite the torchlight spotted by a satellite
calling all the peacekeepers to the sanctuary
time to wage war in the spiritual, let's go
hit the metro, politics are bent so
think twice, keep feet on the path narrow
Share no less than God's love with everyone
Take care of each other, that's how they know us, son
and when the show is done, talk to the kid
cuz he needs your attention, to grow and to live
flow and deliver the truth in a verse
Show them a way to be rid of the curse
open the hearse, with an invite to life
the funeral's a ticket to living inside the light

Inner Sessions, standing in the gap
Connect souls like points on a map
clap to the beat, never second guess it
... Intercede with Inner Sessions

BILLYBO:
tongue tied and twisted like my rhymes are never finished
(so) i shoot em double-fisted cuz i'd kill to make a witness
(yo) pipe the sweetest mixes like it might relieve the sickness
but don't sugar coat the hip-hop or they'll fail to see the vision
mail me in a minute - we can conjugate our lyrics
pray the Holy Spirit blesses them to make a difference
don't get it twisted - ain't no cliche or gimmick
it's a pure reflection of my heart and all that is in it
check a glimmer of the wisdom - blowin' minds is diffinitive
stick a shim in it for level-headed penitence
with sentences that run on like incontinence
in continents where droppin this translates the confidence
that you can get the message with no price tag or consequence
askin for 100, but we'll give the extra 10 percent
as evidence presents Inner Session representatives
AP and BillyBo leaving seeds as severence

[BACK & FORTH]
never underestimate the power of an EMCEE
rooted in the elements but never ELEMENTARY
bringing you the cure for the common disease
act like we don't approach the inner session, MAN PLEASE
i dare you to move, yeah, dare you to switch feet
flip the Great Hope on these dope hip-hop beats
it's BillyBo and AP - INNER SESSIONS
linked by time zones and unified methods
Step in, yes indeed, we proceed
to reach down deep, like roots on a tree
water the product of a heart after the father
if you brought up by the Abba, gotta lotta lot to offer
They brought it hard up in the heart, we got 'em softer
put the slaughter on the altar for the glory of the Father
Talked to God about the mob of problems that we see
Guess what he said to me? They need the inner seed!
Talked to God about the mob of problems that we see
Guess what he said to me? They need the inner seed!
Track Name: Latchkey
BILLYBO:
the house is cold and there's not much food
i would blame my parents but they're busy payin dues
workin 9 to 5, yeah, plus overtime
swingshift lifestyle keepin me awake in the lie
(lie) sideways lookin down the hallway
they do it cuz they love me, yeah, that's what they say
so i guess i know what love really means
"love is the lie that's beneath what it seen"
but i first learned different man i'm so confused
wrapped up in pop culture man i'm so consumed
i get what i want through this tv screen
but i guess what i need is out of the scene
left with just me here to experiment
find a temporary fix and then cherish it
friends are enemies you feel lucky to have
and it's hard to understand when you're the joke of the class
passed out waitin for the next alarm
confused as to who this is layin in my arms
it's my girlfriend - and she's my heroin(e)
who fades reality and makes me look again
check the mirror for the man that's really me
and knock at the door found with the latchkey

Somebody shoulda shown you love
Somebody shoulda shown you love
- yo what's love?
- real love
- one love
- God's love

AARON PAUL:
15 years old with a pristine soul
kids at school don't want you that way - no
here, take a stroll with us they say
kick back, relax, roll in the hay, whatever
16 feelin clever
cop a new dress cuz the boys like it better
givin you cheddar for that new perfume
to cover up the musky scent up in your room
17 years old knocked up
daddy's hollerin at your best friend, what? (what?)
what you wanna do you can't do cuz you
always had to look out for one, now two
and who really wanna end a new life?
people got signs for whores like that, right?
"you got a light?", you ask up in the dark
prayin the spark will find a way into your heart
Track Name: Walk It Out
What is this love they sing about?
What is this truth they can't do without?
I gotta know this love myself,
I gotta walk it - walk it out

AARON PAUL:
keep it to def, fresh, hot yes and not less
God bless ya'll for checkin out the set, aw yes
the raw flesh got tests for sickness
came through with the cure so heads could witness
put my hand to the keys and writ this
bit of text, transferred into speach and them mixed
BillyBo got the wrench to get it fixed
so press this into your decks, yes, the next hit
heads lit like flippin a light switch
got your game last inning wrapped up with a nice pitch
they can't switch up the flow with niceness
so i hope you reckognize what nice is
i'd like kids to come to Christ it's
my prize at the end of this life, it's like this
how many souls did i bless with my gift?
God given, so i have to insist that i give
so i live to split the distance
between each soul and the truth for instance
between God's mercy and you, resistance?
you need to surrender when love's persistant, yeah

BILLYBO:
sometimes i wonder why we start the pacin
impatiently waitin, tuned into the static station
racin channel 2 through infinite fine lines
we measure success by impressin on these time lines
stretch our warped reality and sit inside our bubble
while trouble doubles we bite the bit and muzzle it
bundle understanding with just enough humanity
we twist the gist of all of this, denyin all the vanity
we intend to save a cent and count the pennies spent
tryin to reinvent the covenent penned with sweat
like the Saviors blood isn't enough
yet we let history repeat it like it's passin through our heads
rest is needed for these preachers and teachers
so stack the bleachers as seekers and experience Jesus' needed treatment
you got the choice to believe it
so receive it in spite of me and walk with the leader
we either bite the hand that feeds us pieces in seasons
or protect the perfect purpose versus cheatin seepin through creases
supposed to scope for hope, pokin jokes at popes
goin posin as chosen ones in photos chokin on ropes

AARON PAUL:
anybody can rap but the question is what are you doin to reach the kids
everything you teach them is another lesson they take home and study hard
they idolize you for cars, cash and the opportunity to be stars
reality will hit them hard when they see them bars on the inside
and this ride is headed somewhere in the darkness
and most of these rap artists are heartless
especially when you consider the fact that
they got a lot of kids headed on the wrong track
but they don't care --- they're makin snaps
that's for more than just petrol to get 'em round the metro
time to let go of all of that nonsense
wake up and face the light spiritually conscious
Track Name: Better Known
AARON PAUL:
hip hop hit me with a can of spray paint
legal walls and even some getaway straight
over the gate through the bushes and whatnot
Krylon in my pack running back to the spot
showing up at the party where the thugs are
kicking it with drug czars, hometown stars
getting rousted by the cops in my car
far from smart so i learned it the hard way
now i kick it where the stars play
on stage with a mic and pair of shades
i've been there for days
tearing up the party with the serenades, so
don't hate, baby, you can get a haymake[r]
ladies, where you at? let your braids shake
fellas! in the place, for pete's sake
keep the peace, keep the pace, keep your heads straight
keep it moving 'cause we energize the set
going and going ain't outlasted yet
yeah, you bet, get check then jet
now i'm back to the lab to create another hit like...

BILLYBO:
it's 9:38 and i'm barely awake
listening to boom bap on the RCA
double tape deck and a CD tray
press record and play, i remember those days
mixtapes made til the audio fades
back into the FM when the tape gets frayed
high speed dub with the auto reverse
and a quick pause _ if the emcees curse
boom box rocking when it's time to skate
rail grind finished with a smooth 180(oh)
it was timed[timed]timed just right
landed with style for the video take
(take) what we got and let the Wild Style spray
create an array of art and inspirate
then hook them on the sample, let the needle penetrate
and spin 'em like a bboy to a new mindstate, hey!
Track Name: Run(run)
BILLYBO:
starter pistol resonates, feet start to levitate
skippin like a storm through the midwest states
pull the brim of your cap down like it's better in the shade
shut down the evidence that's hidden in your shame
you a track star man, breakin all the records
lappin all the veterans, lookin for an exit
gum rubber outsole ready for a meltdown
burnin all the bridges dependin on yourself (now)
gotta stand gotta run pull your stick out of the mud
these watered down wish lists aren't doin us none
gotta pay off any debts leave the creditors stunned
show 'em evidence of where your treasures are stored up
call it poor luck but i'm okay with a goose egg
work it a new way like a breaker with a loose leg
spinnin the tables on a broke beat market
and head to true riches, yo, Christ is the target

BILLYBO:
you're a winner in deed, and circumstances change
crosshairs settled and the target's still in range
telescope the memories and justify the distance
color it opaque and repaint the images
AARON PAUL:
scrimmage with the flesh and just insist to give your best
hop up to your feet and make a dash to pass the rest
run the race to never be disqualified and multiply
the testament of faith until we all rely on El Shaddai
until your cries are metamorphed to shouts of victory
kickin each and every enemy out - they're history!
until the mystery and peace up in the gospel
gets unlocked inside of your heart, mind, and walk UH

AARON PAUL:
on your mark, get set, go
run with the greatest of ease until you're flyin
continents per hour now you're overthrowin powers
towers come tumblin down, word, like showers
waterin your inner garden, fruit's enough to prove the parden
no longer racin against men instead
you run to see the end of everything that kills them
one of God's children, for real and not pretend
cuz you know your Father and you even call him Friend
Track Name: Death After Life
BILLYBO:
i see the sun leavin us to dream of stars
smilin at the moon and mars over top the cars
addin to the strobe light of high beams and stop lights
streakin today on my shirt with my eyes wiped
it's been a long day and a rainy season
messin with my head, and even my beliefs, yeah
i've been lookin for comfort in my 9 to 5
gotta pitch another sale to keep my job alive
or my head above water, whatever, it's dead weight
i'm lookin for stability to keep my head straight
it feels like these streets i'm on are not so concrete
i'm chokin like they just reached out and caught me
it's hard to explain but this has got to be a dream
i can't change You, so there's something wrong with me
if You would ever have it i would offer You apologies
without You i'd wonder what this life would ever be

AARON PAUL:
clock strikes midnight new day no light yet
he wakes up right then in a sweat
yesterday was all regret
but the sun is on the way, lookin to a brighter day
run away is what his peers and his fears say
laugh that track, now he's back for his tears' sake
i can't wait for the dawn to break
i got a garden to tend and a lawn to rake
heart shakes like a quake just popped
underneath of the streets through his project blocks
i'mma walk this talk this mean this live this
give this everything so bear witness
where is his focus goin?
people when they see him around they barely know him
livin dead to life, he's showin
a seed's gotta die for the new life to grow in

BILLYBO:
back to the office with a few new bosses
and a whole new view on how God calls us
i've been offered a position makin less
who woulda guessed they even moved my desk
but i'm blessed to even have this job at all
and a parking spot all the way at the mall
it's not the best but i'm past those thoughts
drop the "have" and the "have not" labels at all costs
it's possibly the best and hardest test i ever took
check the balance but the debts always leavin me shook
been bought in spite of what i got that's not right
been called to faith beyond the realm of site
i've been learnin to lead by servin permanently
and work with ferver even when the fire's burnin in me
eternally renewin my mind and shapin my heart
makin me appreciate the light after dark
Track Name: Walk It Out (Believer's Serenade)
What is this love they sing about?
What is this truth they can't do without?
I gotta know this love myself,
I gotta walk it - walk it out

AARON PAUL:
keep it to def, fresh, hot yes and not less
